About Me |
|
I use a base fabric, usually cotton or sometimes a thicker fabric like silk velvet or satin, then I add a selection of cuttings which can be organza, silk, ribbon, fibres, merino wool, hand dyed threads etc. I then machine stitch all these threads and fibres onto the base fabric. Once this is complete I will then cut out the shapes that I require and do some hand embroidery with silk or cotton onto the fabric. The beads will then be securely stitched on using conditioned Nymo which is a stronger thread especially made for stitching beads. I then use a piece of lovely soft wool felt as a backing fabric and hand blanket stitch around the edging. If the piece is destined to become a necklace I will hang it onto a sterling silver chain or attach it to silver plated nylon coated wire. |

Hi, my name is Carol and I live in the small town of Portlethen on the north east coast of Scotland. I have been making jewellery since 2005. I studied at Grays School of Art in Aberdeen in Silversmithing but more recently I have been working with textiles in my jewellery. I am inspired by textures, colours and simple lines. I can be contacted by email at carol@cjjewellery.co.uk
